[Art] Male. Late twenties. Severely injured. No ID in his wallet.

Title: Male. Late twenties. Severely injured. No ID in his wallet.
Artist: petite-madame
Rating: All audience
Characters/Pairings: Dean
Warnings: None. Long title maybe xD
H/C: Hospitalization. IV. Physically injured. Bandaging.
Spoilers: None
Note: Drawn for the A Dean-focused h/c Tags Challenge.

I drew this art for the Dean-focused H/C Tags Challenge of hoodie_time . I was tagged with Hospitalization, Burried alive and Fever. I chose the first prompt because I've always enjoyed drawing hospital environments.

The story behind the art:
The starting point was of course Dean at the hospital (to fill the prompt Hospitalization) but I needed to draw something more than Dean just lying in an hospital bed. In the first version, Sam was standing right behind his brother, looking after him and waiting for him to wake up. It was nice, it was cute but I wanted something darker. I "got rid" of the poor Sammy to let Dean on his own in a gloomy hospital room and came up with the idea that Dean could have been severely injured during a hunt and found almost dead on the edge of a road without his ID. I really wanted to increase the feeling of loneliness in the picture. I hope it was successful.

Tools of the trade: Watercolors - Poster paints - color pencils - pastels (Filters and color enhancement: Photoshop CS + Painter Essential 3)

My goodness you are amazing. All the little details are awesome and I think you really achieved the lonely feeling. It's wonderful.

Thank you so much for the great comment. ♥
I wasn't sure about the feeling of loneliness in the pic. I'm glad I was successful \o/

asdfjklö!!! Holy cow! That is gorgeous!

I love the grey-ish tone of the pic except for the blood and the scrubs on his shoulder.

You captured the lonlyness and the hurt very well.

Thank you very, very much for sharing this pic with us!

asdfjklö!!!
I know this word. It's the Klingon for "ZOMG" but the translations may vary. Hi, hi hi ^o^

Thank you so much for the great comment about my drawing ♥
The drawing was drawn in full colors. I desaturated everything in Photoshop (except for the reds). I found it more convenient than drawing directly in B&W. :D

oh, this is hauntingly beautiful. Well done, so very well done.

Oh Captain Jack! I hope you had the occasion to see the first episode of Miracle Day, it was very promising!

Oh my... this is so depressingly sad, yet so good.
I wanna be a (read: his) nurse :P
13th-Jul-2011 08:06 pm (UTC)
For Dean like that? I wanna be a nurse too xD
It's a little bit sad but it was for hoodie_time. I wanted to draw a very H/C picture. Thank you very much for the great comment about my art ♥

This is absolutely gorgeous. Consider the feeling of loneliness INCREDIBLY INCREASED. ;______; Great job!

I think you REALLY got the sense of loneliness across with this. The dark colouring/shading, the vulnerability in the way Dean's curled up, everything contributes to that, and the result is beautiful. ♥

Amazing work. And you did it so quickly! I'm impressed, as always, by your awesomeness.

It was nice, it was cute but I wanted something darker. I "get rid" of the poor Sammy to let Dean in a gloomy hospital room and came up with the idea that Dean could have been severely injured during a hunt and found almost dead on the edge of a road without his ID.

That's a really interesting backstory! Cool. And, lol, poor disappearing Sammy. I'd love to see that too if you ever want to share, but I'm very happy as is tooo. Thanks for participating in this challenge, and sharing this with us. ;D

I wasn't sure about the feeling of loneliness in the pic. I'm glad I was successful \o/ I drew his arm differently at the start, it was hidden under the covers but I wanted to show that he was all curled up so I redrew it next to his face.

And you did it so quickly! I'm impressed,
My insomnia are getting worse with time. I have to find something to keep me occupied at night and fan arts are a good alternative. I drew it last night while eating a cherry pie and drinking some tea (that's also why you sometimes have food stains on my drawings but I erase them thanks to Photoshop :3 )

I'd love to see that too if you ever want to share
I don't have it anymore. It was on the same drawing. It was just a graphite sketch that I erased before drawing the medical equipment above it. Sam had his arms crossed, his face in the dark (the pic was cropped just above his nose, you couldn't see his eyes).

Thank you so much for the great comment about my art ♥

This is incredible. You can really get a sense of Dean's gloom and loneliness. Wonderful job.

Thank you very much! ♥
I had doubts about the feeling of loneliness in the pic so your comment really cheers me up ♥
13th-Jul-2011 07:04 pm (UTC)
Oh. Shit. Fantastic job, love. That look on his face is devastating, and his arm parallel to his face and the cannula and and ;_;
13th-Jul-2011 09:23 pm (UTC)
Thank you very much for noticing all the details hidden in the picture like the position of his arm. I drew it under his torso but changed it at the last minute so that it was parallel to his face. :D I'm glad you enjoyed it ♥

Oh wowww, amazing work.

Thank you very much :D

Absolutely gorgeous! the depth of feeling you conjure up with your art really gives meaning to the phrase, a picture is worth a thousand words. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much about this great comment. I always try to tell a story in my arts or at least to try to give the possibility to the viewers to imagine a story by themselves; ♥

This is really hauntingly beautiful. I love the shading and colours, and I'm really drawn to the way his fingers are curved toward his face; all of his body language is just him curling in on himself. I love it ♥

So sad....Poor Dean.

Poor!dean indeed :3

Holy crap this is AMAZING! You are definitely an artist to watch. Poor Dean! Makes me want to snuggle him.

You know, more than I already want to. :-)
13th-Jul-2011 09:28 pm (UTC)
You are not the only one who wants to snuggle him :D According to the comments on this post, people want to hug him, snuggle him, comfort him, put a hand in his hair, telling him that everything is gonna be ok, etc ^^
Thanks a lot for the great comment about my work ♥

Holy crap, I'm in love with this! Like...I want to get it framed and put it up on my wall or something. That burned patch...I can't stop staring!

Seriously gorgeous!

I want to get it framed and put it up on my wall or something.
Oh really O__o That's too bad you didn't told me so earlier because I reduced the pic at the last minute. I had a HQ version that would have been better for the printing :/ ARGH!

Thank you so much for the great comment about my art ♥
13th-Jul-2011 07:46 pm (UTC)
Darling this is awesome! It is much darker than you usual style (the desaturation works really well) and I love the slightly grainy texture. I think he actually looks much younger and more vulnerable because you have him lying on his side like that. The deep shadows and the watercolour washes and the pale bloodbag - GUH!
13th-Jul-2011 09:02 pm (UTC)
My works tend to be very colorful (a little bit TOO colorful sometimes...) but here I really wanted something sad so I worked in full colors with watercolors and poster paint and desaturated the colors in Photoshop. I also added a few filters.
Thanks a lot for the great comment about my work and for noticing all the details in the pic ♥
13th-Jul-2011 07:52 pm (UTC)
I love this very much! As so many others have said, the coloring choices you made here really enhance the gloomy, hurty, alone atmosphere. Just the fact that he's curled on his side as if trying to protect himself is a nice touch, too. Poor Dean. So vulnerable. Lovely work!
13th-Jul-2011 09:00 pm (UTC)
This drawing is very "Poor!dean" indeed :3
I wanted this drawing to be in very desaturated colors from the start but I worked in full colors in watercolors. All the "B&w touch" was done in Photoshop. What would my life be without Photoshop xD
Thanks a lot for the comment ♥
13th-Jul-2011 07:54 pm (UTC)
I really had a visceral reaction to the isolation in this!
13th-Jul-2011 08:55 pm (UTC)
If you had such a strong reaction it means I was successful at what I wanted to achieve xD
Thank you very much for the comment ♥
13th-Jul-2011 07:57 pm (UTC)
Oooh, fantastic!!! I love the pencils and the lighting on the bag and his should especiallys. Great job with the composition as well; the space above him heightens his alone-ness.
13th-Jul-2011 08:58 pm (UTC)
I think I exaggerated a bit with the highlights on the bag, it was as if Dean's blood was glowing ^^;;
Thank you very much for the lovely comment about my work and for noticing all the tiny details ♥
13th-Jul-2011 07:58 pm (UTC)
Beautiful, wow. ♥

Thank you so much! ♥
Your icon is hilarious xD
